Description
I present a new method to identify, beyond NLO, the structure of the counterterms needed for the local subtraction of infrared divergences in QCD. At NNLO, the approach is based on a generalization and combination of the main features of the FKS and Catani-Seymour subtraction schemes. In this talk I present the idea in details for final-state radiation, deduce the structure of the subtraction terms and provide a proof of principle with a complete application to a simple NNLO process.
