ALICE is the experiment at the LHC dedicated to the investigation
of heavy-ion collisions. In these collisions at high energies,
a deconfined state of matter called Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) is
produced. Our investigations aim at the characterization of the QGP,
now produced at the highest energies and temperature ever reached.
The first LHC run which just ended included two heavy-ion (Pb-Pb)
data taking periods, and, recently, a proton-Pb run. I will present
a selection of results by ALICE from these first years of operation,
with special focus on heavy flavors and charmonia.
