Challenges and opportunities in W/Z + charm-jet production: charming physics or difficult environment?

Description
The production of an electroweak boson in association with a charm jet defines important experimental testing grounds to get a better handle on constraining the strange and charm parton distribution functions (PDFs). I will give an overview on the challenges one faces in providing theoretical predictions for these and related final states. I will also discuss the possibility of an intrinsic charm component in the PDF and its impact on the associated production of a Z boson and a charm jet at the LHC.
