Description

In this talk, I will review a framework for finding the conservative potential of compact binary systems using scattering amplitudes and effective field theory.
Then, I will describe its extension to spinning binaries, which is based on scattering of particles with arbitrary spin.
I will also show how the impulse and spin changes obtained from the derived Hamiltonian, can be expressed in surprisingly compact forms directly in terms of the scattering amplitude.
