Axions and Stars - Old Ideas and New Developments

Axions are among the best motivated dark matter candidates and at the same time, because they are so light, can be emitted without threshold from stars. The traditional subject of astrophysical axion bounds and searches for stellar axions has been vigorously revived as of late, with numerous new ideas and developments. This talk will provide an update of this topic with a focus on QCD axions, somewhat parallel to our recent Lecture Notes arXiv:2401.13728.
