Description

This one-day workshop will launch the exchange activities between the “Cosmological Correlator”, which is part of the Cluster of Excellence ORIGINS, and the Max Planck–IAS–NTU Center for Particle Physics, Cosmology, and Geometry.

The event will bring together experts from leading institutes in Munich and Garching, including LMU and TUM, as well as the Max Planck Institutes for Physics (MPP), Astrophysics (MPA), and Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE).

In recent years, the particle physics and scattering amplitudes community has developed a variety of powerful new computational tools. These include innovative mathematical frameworks that enable more precise and efficient calculations. Although these methods were originally developed to address issues in collider physics, they have the potential to significantly impact cosmology, where similar challenges arise when studying the early and late Universe.

The Cosmological Connector aims to bring together researchers and create a common ground where ideas, methods, and expertise at the intersection of particle physics and cosmology can circulate freely. By building this bridge, we hope to open new pathways for solving long-standing questions about the fundamental laws of physics.

Scientific Goals of this Kick-off Meeting

  • Bring together researchers from different institutes and communities in Munich
  • Discuss state-of-the-art developments in particle physics and cosmology
  • Identify common research questions and foster new transdisciplinary collaborations

Scientific Themes

  • Novel mathematics of scattering amplitudes: positive geometry, special functions, differential equations
  • Collider physics phenomenology: Higgs boson properties (gauge sector, Yukawa sector, self-interactions), soft and collinear non-perturbative physics (PDFs, jet substructure, parton showers, hadronization)
  • Formal aspects of cosmological correlators: loops in de Sitter space, IR divergence resummation, soft de Sitter EFT, spectral approaches, massive de Sitter correlators
  • Phenomenology of primordial non-Gaussianities: cosmological collider physics, parity violation, observational constraints from CMB/LSS/scale-dependent bias
  • Large Scale Structure: EFTofLSS loop integrals, cosmological parameter constraints, eROSITA/Euclid/DESI/DES

Registration closes on October 6, at 12:00 (noon).
