The MPP & MPQ Career Day is meant to bring together young researchers interested in transitioning from academia to, e.g., industry, finance, or consulting, and companies looking for doctoral researchers well-versed in working methodically and solving multi-layered problems.
The event will take place on Wednesday, 22nd April 2026 at the Max Planck Institute for Physics (MPP), Garching b. München and is organized by the MPP/MPQ PhD representatives. This year's keynote speaker will be Prof. Dr. Johannes Zeiher (LMU & MPQ).
The companies set up stands in the foyer, presenting themselves with e.g. posters, brochures, or recruiting contacts. Throughout the day, participants are encouraged to visit their stands and get in contact with the companies. For a first impression, the speakers give a concise 3-minute presentation about their company. Later, the speakers have another 15-20 minutes to present their current jobs, personal experiences, and possible career paths within their company. There will also be the opportunity to interact with the speakers during lunch and the apéro. Most of the speakers have a scientific background in physics or related fields.
