The Duality between Gauge Fields and Strings

I will discuss general aspects of the so called gauge/Strings duality. I will also comment on applications of this kind of duality to field theories with possible phenomenological interest. I will discuss some recent advances in studying the presence of a flavor (global) symmetry groups and its effect on the strongly coupled field theories dynamics. I may also comment on some application to Walking Technicolor. The talk is planned for a general audience with a small bit for experts towards the end.
