Description
In March 2010 the LHC started its proton physics program at s=7 TeV. Both LHC and ATLAS have performed excellent ever since. First data analyses were devoted to the calibration of the detector and to initial measurements of known electroweak and QCD Standard Model (SM) processes with high cross sections. These early measurements demonstrated the ATLAS capabilities and paved the way for potential discoveries. On this basis we are entering the precision era for SM measurements and investigate possible signals beyond the SM. The exploration of the new energy regime and the high integrated luminosities achieved allow us to improve existing limits and the Higgs boson searches start to get sensitive already within the present running period. This talk will present recent results based on the 2011 LHC running.
