Description

After briefly recalling how a parton shower works and what are the benefits that can be gained from merging it with a fixed next-to-leading order calculation, I will introduce the POWHEG method and present the POWHEG BOX package, a computer-code framework for implementing NLO calculations in shower Monte Carlo. I will discuss recent features added to the POWHEG BOX and illustrate a few interesting phenomenological results at the LHC.
