Description
Charged Cosmic Rays do not readily reveal their astrophysical origin to an observer. Magnetic fields unavoidably bend their trajectories on their way from source or acceleration regions to suitable detectors. Therefore neutral messengers produced by interactions of Cosmic Rays and interstellar/intergalactic matter are studied to probe extreme particle acceleration on all accessible scales in our Universe. In particular, observations in the high-energy gamma-ray regime revealed a variety of Cosmic Ray accelerators over the recent years. I’ll discuss a vast variety of such signatures seen in gamma-rays ranging from terrestrial to extragalactic scales.
