The physics potential of the International Linear Collider (ILC) depends critically on the jet energy resolution as achieved by its detectors. For jets originating from the decay of the weak bosons a target resolution of 3-4% over a wide range of jet energies has been set. This excellent jet energy resolution is believed to be achievable with the use of Particle Flow Algorithms (PFAs) and detectors optimized for their application. In this context we will report on efforts worldwide to develop electromagnetic and hadronic calorimeters with unprecedented spatial resolution, as required for the optimal application of PFAs.
We will provide a short review of the status of the International Linear Collider, an introduction into the concept of Particle Flow, followed by a description of the of the various imaging calorimeters being developed by the CALICE collaboration. We will conclude with a summary of the plans for the next years.
