Description
Track reconstruction in modern collider experiments ist faced with high background from pile-up and low-momentum tracks. I review methods of track finding and track fitting which are able to cope with this problem. In particular, I present an adaptive generalization of the classical Kalman filter that performs the estimation in parallel to the final choice of the track candidate. The resulting robust estimator can also be applied in other estimation problems such as vertex fitting or clustering of proteomics data.
