Dark energy, and why it should (or should not) be a cosmological constant

In a recent paper (arXiv:1002.3966), Bianchi & Rovelli critically examine some of the points commonly brought forward to motivate a dynamical nature of dark energy. I will present their arguments and conclusions and discuss the present status of dark energy from a phenomenological point of view.
