The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will open up the new territory of TeV-scale physics, where ground-breaking discoveries and fundamental new insights into the fabric of matter, space and time are expected. Present experimental results from electroweak precision data and measurements in the flavour sector show a sensitivity to TeV-scale physics via quantum effects. Possible implications for LHC physics will be analysed, and it will be discussed how input from experiment and theory can be utilised to identify the underlying physics at the TeV-scale.
