Description
One of the puzzles of dark matter physics is to understand why the contributions of matter and dark matter to the mass density of the Universe are of the same order (being within a factor of five of each other). We propose a possible resolution of this within the context of a model for neutrino masses where matter-anti-matter asymmetry of the Universe arises from leptogenesis. This requires that the dark matter particle must not be its own anti-matter (asymmetric) and its mass must be around 5 -6 GeV. Possible implications of this hypothesis for laboratory searches of dark matter as well as astrophysics will be noted.
