The Standard Model prediction of the W mass — current status

by Prof. Wolfgang Hollik (MPI München)

Europe/Berlin
Description
An overview is given on the the various steps to get precise SM predictions of the W-boson mass from a given set of input parameters (Fermi constant, electromagnetice fine structure constant, Z-boson mass, top-quark and Higgs-boson masses, strong coupling constant), in the on-shell scheme and the MS-bar scheme. The current status is reviewed, topical predictions and their uncertainties are presented and discussed.
