MPP Colloquium

Gravitational waves as a probe of the early Universe

by Dr Valerie Domcke (CERN)

Description

Due to their extremely weak interactions, gravitational waves are a very promising, but also challenging, probe of the early Universe.  In this talk I will review the status of gravitational wave searches across different frequency bands, including the growing evidence for a stochastic gravitational wave background at pulsar timing arrays. I will also discuss new ideas to search for gravitational waves at MHz and GHz frequencies.
