Description

The Mu3e experiment searches for the lepton-flavour violating decay of a positive muon to two positrons and an electron. It aims at a sensitivity of one in 10^16 muon decays. This necessitates very high muon rates and excellent background suppression which is achieved by a very good momentum, vertex and timing resolution. The talk discusses the physics motivation, the experimental concept and the technologies developed to tackle the many challenges.
