The presentation will give a short overview of the CLIC concept. In the following the status will be discussed of the accelerating structure development and the verification of the drive beam scheme. An example will be given of the research and development that is performed to ensure the preservation of the beam quality. Finally, the background in the detector due to beam-beam effects is introduced.
