The Career Day is meant to bring together young researchers, interested in transitioning from academia to e.g. industry, finance or consulting, and companies looking for doctoral researchers well-versed in working methodically and solving multi-layered problems.
It will take place on Friday, 7th April 2017 at the Max Planck Institute for Physics, Munich (MPP). It is organised by the MPP's PhD representatives and advertised among PhD students of the Max Planck Insitute for Astrophysics (MPA), the International Max Planck Research School of the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ) and the MPP, as well as postdoctoral researchers of the MPP.
The speakers will present their current job and employer as well as impressions from their transitioning phase in a 30 minute presentation (including questions). Most of the speakers have a scientific background similar to or even in physics. In total, 12 enterprises covering a wide field of applications are participating.
Apart from the talks, a seminar room and the foyer are dedicated to put up stands where the companies can present themselves using e.g. posters and brochures allowing you to engage in discussions with the speakers and further company members all throughout the day.
There will be more time to network and discuss after the talks during a reception at the MPP's foyer and a subsequent dinner at the restaurant Aumeister. The participation for the dinner is limited and will be on a first-come first-served basis.
We are grateful to all sponsoring companies for making this event possible and in particular we thank TNG Technology Consulting for covering the dinner.
We are looking forward to seeing you at the Career Day.
