Arrival by plane
The three closest airports are:

- The Trieste airport is a regional airport, with several daily flights to international hubs (Alitalia: Rome-Fiumicino and Milano-Linate; Lufthansa: Munich) and other destinations;
- public transport to Trieste: coach service, line 51 (one-way fare: 4,05 euro);
- taxi to Trieste (60 euro/taxi);
- "Science Bus" shuttle service to several destinations in Trieste (18,70 euro/person; reservation at http://www.science-bus.com/user/index.php?l=en ).

Venice Marco Polo Airport (http://www.veniceairport.it/en/), at 135 km from the Trieste city centre:
- the Venice airport is an international airport, with direct flights from/to many world-wide destinations; it may be a convenient choice to avoid intermediate stops at other hubs after long flights;
- bus to Venezia-Mestre, then train to Trieste;
- faster and more comfortable: sharing a "Science Bus" to Trieste (190 euro/car: see above for reservations).

Getting there by car
Trieste is connected by motorway to Venice (A4), Udine and Austria (A4/A23), and Ljubljana and Slovenia (E61/E70). Detailed driving directions can be obtained from https://www.google.com/maps/.
Free parking is difficult to find in the city centre: parking place (16 euro/day), can be found at the "Silos" parking, in Piazza della Libertà, 9 (http://www.sabait.it/it/parcheggi/trieste/trieste-silos), close to the Central railway Station, to the meeting location and the hotels.
Coming by train
Train timetables and tickets can be obtained at the Trenitalia website: http://trenitalia.com. Once at the Trieste central railway station, you are at a few minutes walking distance from the meeting place (Via Filzi, 14).
