Altitude and temperature :
The Observatory lies between 2.200 - 2.425 meters above sea level, (almost 7.000 feet). Weather conditions could be quite extreme. In October, we could have brilliant sunshine with temperatures of +20º C, or strong winds, rain and temperatures of a few degrees ºC.
Height and health:
Normally this height should not influence the human body too much, but together with changes in temperature one might experience some problems.
In case of the following symptoms, please advise the medical units available on site.
Head aches
Nausea
Dizziness
Abnormal tiredness
Vomiting
Incoherent talking
- Before undertaking the trip to the Observatory, please check with your medical doctor in case of health problems such as:
Heart condition
Respiratory problems
High blood pressure
Vertigo
Extreme car sickness
Adequate clothing and shoes:
Please wear solid shoes or boots. Sandals or open shoes are not recommended.
Please bring a warm jacket, wind or rain proof.
Sun protection:
The intensity of the solar rays is 30% more than on the mainland of Spain, and together with the height of over 2000 m. one needs a good solar protection, even with cloud cover.
Sunglasses and a hat may be needed in case of clear weather.
